REVIEW: The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz

The Plot is a thrilling mystery that will keep you on the edge of your seat as it twists and turns its way to an ending I didn’t see coming.

This compelling tale follows Jacob, a washed-up author who hears a new idea for a novel that’s yet to be written. When the writer dies before finishing his book, Jacob decides to write the story himself, in his words and with his unique voice, because a story this good needs to be told, doesn’t it? After all, isn’t telling the story more important than where the idea came from?

But someone who knows his secret doesn’t agree and is willing to publicly harass him until he comes clean.

The Plot is an inside look at what it means to be a writer, including the doubts, fears, and insecurities of the profession, as well as the highs and lows of reaching the coveted best seller lists. The characters are deep and complex in this fast-paced story, making it almost impossible not to stay up late reading just one more chapter.

I highly recommend The Plot for anyone who loves a good mystery, has an interest in a behind-the-scenes look at the lives of writers, or simply wants to be entertained for a few hundred pages.
